Winners of the 2026 Liber Prizes
These are awarded by the FGEE (Spanish Federation of Publishers’ Guilds) and constitute the sector’s acknowledgement of individuals, companies and entities committed to the world of books and the promotion of reading.
On Wednesday 30 September we’ll present the Liber Awards. To attend the event, a valid pass must be presented.
Biblioteca Regional de Murcia, Liber Prize for the promotion of Reading in libraries open to the public
With this distinction, the FGEE recognises the commitment of the Regional Library of Murcia to bringing books closer to people of all ages. It has become a cultural benchmark, offering a diverse programme of activities which, under the motto “Books and Much More”, turns the library into a meeting place for literature, ideas and other cultural disciplines.
Anatomía de un instante wins the 2026 Liber Award for Best Screen Adaptation of a Literary Work
With this award, the FGEE recognises the screen adaptation of a literary work centred on one of the most pivotal episodes in Spain’s recent history, as well as the work of the producer and screenwriters in translating a work of great narrative and documentary complexity into the audiovisual medium.
ABC Cultural wins the 2026 Liber Award for the Promotion of Reading in the Media
It has been recognised for its longstanding role as a leading forum for literary criticism, book recommendations and cultural debate. Founded in 1991 by Luis María Anson, the supplement has helped bring literature, the arts and ideas to a wide readership.
Casa Anita Bookshop in Barcelona wins the Boixareu Ginesta Award for Bookseller of the Year
This distinction recognises the bookshop’s more than two decades as a leading destination for children's and young adult literature and illustrated books, as well as its commitment to promoting reading, artistic creation and the cultural life of its local community.
Leonardo Padura wins the 2026 Liber Award for the Most Outstanding Latin American Author
The FGEE has awarded the prize to Cuban writer Leonardo Padura, one of the foremost voices in contemporary Spanish-language literature. The jury praised his ability to craft stories that, rooted in meticulous research, explore truth, guilt, friendship and the weight of history on individual lives.
